5 Tips to Design a Kitchen You’ll Fall in Love With

Kitchen: the heart of every home

The warmth in every household comes from what cooks in the kitchen. The past year
has created a lot of self-proclaimed (!) master-chefs in a lot of homes. With
experimental cooking and stay-at-home dinners, the kitchen quickly became a place
where we all eventually found solace amidst the chaos. Which is one of the reasons
why the need for a modern and contemporary kitchen rose drastically with people
either renovating, redecorating, or reorganising their kitchens to make it more
    spacious, colourful, and approachable.

So let us look at five simple but effective tips for designing your kitchen that will
make you and your family fall in love with it all over again.

    1. Smart Storage Solutions:
If you think your kitchen lacks storage space, it is time to roll up your sleeve and play
the puzzle game. Consider every item in your kitchen as a puzzle piece and give it a
designated slot. Utilising every nook and cranny is a rule to ensure the optimum
potential of your space. A pull-out pantry is always a sleek and stylish option to place
your condiments. Most kitchens have a window and the sill plays a crucial role in
displaying all your beautiful trinkets making it an art shelf display. Labelling all the dry
foods and storing them in a drawer in similar containers brings out your inner Marie
Kondo to life. The cutting board should always be placed at your eye level since it is
one of the handiest and overused piece of equipment there is. Never limit your
storage to horizontal placings, go vertical and place that bread-maker purchased on
a whim, up the drawer. A kitchen with the right storage is like a perfect pair of jeans,
      comfortable and trendy.
    2. Colourful Combinations:
Colours hold the power to alter emotions and mood; every colour denotes something
different. The ‘right’ hue for you or your space can make all the difference in the
world. For a small kitchen, say approx. 8*10 feet, monochromes should be the go-to style with pastel or nude shades to give a visual treat and illusion of a wider space. A medium modular kitchen, approx 8 12 feet, can share two-tone colour combinations, like
yellow and black, or blue and white and give your kitchen the Santorini vibe. For a
larger kitchen, approx 10*12 feet or more, black and golden with golden fixtures can
add that plush feel or if you are a minimalistic family, a two-tone walnut and teak
finish kitchen is perfect to add the au natural look and feel. We always pair the colour
that fits right with our skin type, the same is the case with our kitchen, with the right
colour, it radiates a different vibe altogether.
    3. Lucent Lighting
The kitchen is a multi-function space, from preparation to cooking, baking to simply
having a meal, it serves all purposes, sometimes all at once. So, certainly for a place
like that, a single style of lighting would be unfair. Firstly, you must have sufficient
lighting under the cabinets, it not only gives an underlining effect and enhances your
kitchen but gives plenty of light while simply preparing for a meal. In most cases, the
chimney provides sufficient light while cooking which can help you admire every step
while cooking a special meal for your loved ones. Finally, having a statement light in
an open kitchen or a breakfast counter helps in creating that oomph factor in your
overall kitchen. Like kohl is to a woman’s eye, light is for the kitchen, just the right
amount can highlight it in the best possible capacity.
    4. Gadgets Galore
There are few classic kitchen gadgets that rule over the shelf, whereas a few others
are hidden in drawers that come out only to help you when in need. If you are a
kitchen junkie, then every tool would play a key role in your space. For eg., a kitchen
roll should always have a handy stand, either hung on the wall or placed on a stand
on your preparation table. Secondly, always remember, that your gadgets should
never mix with your utensils, they don’t make the best of friends. Finally, remember,
follow the top-down approach, the most used item should be on the top of the shelf,
with sometimes used item coming in drawers or first shelves, the ones bought on a
whim should stay at the bottom of the drawer when in need pull it out otherwise try to
avoid cluttering your space with these gadgets (garlic peeler, you hear me!).
    5. Blissfully Balanced
We sometimes get carried away by fancy lighting, perfect gadgets, colourful delights,
and smart storage but the key in having a kitchen that catches the eye is striking the
balance. The stainless steel gadgets work well with sleek backsplash, while the
wooden texture looks plush with hints of golden handles. A classic chimney with a
subtle stove is always the right approach. A dark countertop shelf with neutral or
pastel shade cabinets is a game and mood changer. Adding an extra sink gives you
double the space, one for cleaning and the other one for preparation. With subtle
tones, accent lighting can do wonders. Adding little succulents in an otherwise
precise kitchen can breathe life into the overall space. It is ultimately all about
bringing every little piece together, just how a dish comes together at the end of a
      cook.

Your kitchen should always be a reflection of your personality, just like the rest of
your house. Follow these simple tips and see a drastic change in your space. These
ideas are simple but can do wonders if approached in the right manner. So then what
are you waiting for, roll up your sleeves, head to the kitchen, and get going.
